Microchipping

Main Practice Page

Microchipping for your cat is something that we strongly recommend. The procedure is very quick and simple, and can be performed during a routine appointment or if your pet is being admitted for routine surgery, such as neutering. The small microchip is implanted under the skin on the neck via an injection.

All lost animals are now routinely scanned by rescue centres and veterinary practices. If your cat is identichipped, you can be rapidly identified as the owner via a central computer, and contacted immediately.

'Chipping' costs a one-off payment of £20. This registers your cat for life, and provides you with peace of mind should your pet become lost. For an additional £10, a special 'Bio-thermo' chip can be implanted, which is able to read your pet's temperature as well, making the need for a rectal thermometer redundant. Read more about it here.
